Instead of a comprehensive tax overhaul that fundamentally alters and amends the mess that is the Maine Tax Code, the elected people in Augusta simply nibble around the edges, as they have for decades.
The lack of understanding about the issues facing average Mainers is perplexing. Most of the people in Augusta are about as average as one can be, meaning they are facing the same issues non-elected people face.
Instead, they muddle along, pretending to have made hard choices on the budget as they seek revenue from every nook and cranny in the state. What a sad state of affairs we have when our elected people feel their number one job is to punish success or restrain personal hobbies in their never ending pursuit of more revenue.
One day, probably when I am long dead, Maine people will have had enough, but likely that day will happen when the confiscation of their earning reaches the point where they can no longer actually meet their own expenses.
